Significant surf conditions in New York and New Jersey are highly dependant on offshore and coastal storm events such as Nor'Easters and Tropical Storms. Often, peak hours of these swells last little more than hours, or perhaps a day or two. Because of this, tracking of storms, timing of the swell arrival, wind changes and local tide conditions play a major role for surfers in our region. The images, charts, buoy links and local forecast links below are designed to assist the savvy local surfer in determining when and where to go, and perhaps even which day to take off when a swell event is in the forecast.
