The 2014 Northeast Regionals are set for May 9-11, 2014 in Sea Isle City, Long Beach Island, NJ!

This month we will kick of the 2014 chapter meetings with a guest presentation from Rob Buchanan. With the ramp up of our own water quality testing program ongoing, we are bringing in a local expert to speak about his own work to help monitor water quality around the city. Join us to listen, learn, discuss and kick off the new year.

Rob Buchanan, Village Community Boathouse.

Rob Buchanan is an assistant professor at Eugene Lang College, the undergraduate liberal arts arm of The New School, where he teaches journalism and environmental studies. He is a co-founder and board member of the Village Community Boathouse, on Pier 40 in Manhattan, and the Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse, and a co-founder and steering committee member of the New York City Water Trail Association.  Last winter he served as a member of the Maritime, Infrastructure and Permitting subcommittee of the Mayor’s Waterfront Advisory Board. Working with local schools and businesses, he recently began a community rowing and boatbuilding program on Wallabout Channel in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. He lives in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, a few blocks from the Navy Yard.

Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation ‘Freeze for a Cause’, Sat February 22nd, 2014!

DRCF_Freeze_2014The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation Freeze For A Cause surf contest is back this year after taking a year off. This year it will be held out in front of Margaritaville at North Carolina Ave in Atlantic City. The after party hosted by the DRCF will be at Margaritaville after the event. The event will include a Junior Mens Division, Open Mens Division, Masters, Open Longboard Division, and Womens Division. Sign-ups will be posted in the very near future.

This is one of three major events for the year for The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation . All proceeds go to assisting those with cancer, and promoting awareness about the risks of cancer. Hope to see y'all there!
